Obituary of Margaret Ann Peary

Rev. Margaret A. Peary (Thorson) Age 80 of Horseheads, NY. She was born February 6th, 1944 in Harriman, PA, the daughter of the late John and Veronica (McGlynn) Thorson. She passed away in peace, to join her Lord on Monday, November 18th, 2024. In addition to her parents, Rev. Peary was predeceased by her husband, David R. Peary, on July 26th,2013. Rev. Peary was the mother of four children, John, Robert, Michael, and Wendy; she had 4 step-children; 7 grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family. Graduating from Council Rock Jr & Sr High School in Newtown, PA, she receives an Associate's Degree from Corning Community College, Bachelor's from Elmira College, and her Master of Divinity from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. Rev. Peary was a United Methodist Minister having served the Hicks and Owen Mills Charge in Chemung NY, the Epworth and Millport Charge in Elmira, NY, the Fairview and Nebo Charge in Graysville, PA, the Espyville and Westford Charge in Espyville and Westford, PA, the Lake City United Methodist Church in Lake City, PA, Wellsburg UMC, and the Stoneboro UMC in Stoneboro, PA. Those wishing may honor Rev. Peary with a donation to The Diabetes Research Foundation and/or the Western Pennsylvania Conference. Family and friends are invited to visit the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads, 1034 W Broad St, Horseheads, NY 14845 on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 from 10 am to 11 am. Her funeral service will follow there at 11am, with Rev. Jeffrey McDowell officiating. Private committal and burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, in Horseheads, NY.
