Obituary of Theodore ""Ted"" Laverty

Theodore D. "Ted" Laverty Age 78, of Horseheads, NY and formerly of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Ted was born on November 4, 1935, in Jersey City, NJ, to Daniel and Florence Laverty. Ted is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Laverty; daughter, Denise (Kirk) Allen of Elmira, NY; son, Brian (Tara) Laverty of Herndon, VA; and grandchildren, Leo and Anne Laverty also of Herndon, VA. Ted was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and was a veteran serving over 20 years in the U. S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve, retiring at the rank of Major. He was very active with the Boy Scouts as a Scoutmaster and also serving many years on staff at Camp Raven Knob in North Carolina. Ted retired from AT&T UNIX Systems Laboratory in Greensboro, NC as a manager. A funeral service will be held in the First Presbyterian Church, 2943 Westinghouse Rd, Horseheads on Monday, November 10, 2014, at 10am. Graveside service will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira at 11am.
